In May 2005, Microsoft released Windows Mobile 5. The
new platform includes a number of revisions over previous
editions of Windows Mobile including PowerPoint Mobile and
stronger support for one-handed use. ActiveSync 4.0
was also released with Windows Mobile 5 and is compatible
with new and old devices.
In 2003, Microsoft introduced
Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphone. The new version of the
platform includes such features as Window Media Player 9 and the .NET
Compact Framework.
Released October 2002, SmartPhone 2002 is Microsoft's first platform
for cell phone style devices. The platform includes Pocket PC
style features in a cell phone form factor for users that primarily
want a phone but also want increased personal information management
and internet interaction. SmartPhone 2002 includes calendar and
contact synchronization with Outlook, email and internet
through its wireless connection, Windows Media Player, MSN
Messenger, games, and much more. SmartPhone 2002
resembles its sister platform, Pocket PC, though its
functionality as well as with its customizable home screens. |
