HPC

CF
(Compact Flash)
A small
expansion that can be memory or other connectivity based hardware. |
MMC
(MultiMedia Card) A memory
expansion that is much smaller then a CF Card. The card is the
same size as an SD card, though |
OS
(Operating System)
The main
interface between the user and the device. Windows CE and Palm OS are the two most
used OS's.. |
SM
(Smart Media) Often mixed up with
MMC.
These super thin memory cards are currently not used on PDA's. |
MS
(Memory Stick) Sony's memory solution. This is a memory only card that is the
size of a stick of gum. Only seen on Sony (Palm OS) devices.

802.11b
Wireless standard
for device connectivity. Note, 802.11b is mainly used for LAN
connections and not direct wireless Internet. |
SD
(Secure Digital) Small media type (same as
MMC) that has extra connections to secure data. |
SDIO
(Secure Digital Input/Output) Secure Digital
card slots that will accept not only memory but expansion hardware
will support SDIO |
Bluetooth
A short range wireless standard. Used for
cross-communication between many different types of mobile (and
non-mobile) products. |
